I have been honored to serve as judge of the 281st district court since 2008. During my time on the bench, I have served with diligence and a strong work ethic. I strive to follow the law and to rule consistent with justice and fairness. In 2016 and again in 2017, I was elected by my peers to serve as the Administrative Judge of the Harris County Board of Civil Judges. In addition to leadership opportunities, I volunteer to plan and speak at educational programs for lawyers and judges. I enjoy my service to the citizens of Harris County.

Before coming to the bench, I had more than 20 years of trial experience and was a partner in the litigation section of Andrews Kurth. I was elected in 2010 to a four-year term and re-elected in 2014.

Before the November 2014 election, I was honored to have endorsements from a variety of organizations including: The Houston Chronicle, The Jewish Herald-Voice, The "C" Club, The Houston Realty Business Coalition, The Houston Police Officers' Union, and the Association of Women Attorneys (among others).

Thank you for your support.

"Judge Matthews is a natural in the courtroom.  During the trial when I served as a juror, she had control of the courtroom, had an excellent judicial demeanor, and made good, solid rulings."
